-3 or -6 dB?

Db ur right iwht the -10 cuz if you use a 0 db tone and u set ur lpf -6 db down say it's 80 hz ur not gonna get that much output so -10 is the way to go and i doubt u'll get clippin with that unless ur amp lpf was up all the way

You appear to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the relationship between the lowpass filter & it's slope, the source level and gain setting.

 
wow, i've never gone beyond a -3db...
I assume you can expect a little clipping with a -10?
ive always used -6 but i know db has been using -10's for as long as i can remember. i believe its called a 3:1 gain overlap or something like that.

im too scared to use -10db tones without an oscope though, and the info behind it (ie the article that was written by RC IIRC)
