3 MTX thunder 5000s

Hey guys. new to the forum.. just signed up. anyway, i'll get right to it. I have 3 MTX thunder 5000's in a sealed box all one chamber. i currently run it off a crappy 2 channel 500 watt legacy amp.. it can hit low bass decent.. but the higher bass just distorts. so i wanna get a nice powerful amp that will power these three babies. each sub is rated at 250 rms.. do you guys think you can suggest some amps? im going to the stereo shop tomorrow to check out some deals, figured i would pass this by you guys first.

if your going to a shop then just stick to any 750+ watt rms "brand name" amp... they'll shoot you in the right direction

the place im going to has a deal where you don't have to pay untill 2008! and apparently they give some pretty nice deals.

also... i listen to a lot of hip hop and drum and bass... anything specific that'll give me the bass i want?

Welome to the forum. Upgrading your amp will make a big difference, especially in sound quality. I just finished my upgrade and it is quite amazing what a difference a good quality amp does. Sounds like a nice deal there if you don't have to pay for such a long period of time. Like the earlier post stated, stick with a good name brand.

hey guys.. thought i'd give you an update on my situation. i just got back from the stereo shop. they were totally cool guys - they came out and checked out my car (my stereo).. anyways, turns out that i had a lot of messed up settings on my deck. i had a lot of the SRS crap enabled on my kenwood deck and that caused a lot of distortion. i've been told now and speaking from experience.. SRS SETTINGS ****!!! my subs are like night and day difference now. hardly any distortion. the guy said that i truely didnt need an amp.. but if anything a better box. ported and down to mtx specs. what was awesome was he wasn't looking for my money, he was just a straight up honest guy.

ok im done ranting.. me go sleep now.
