3 JL 10W6s vs. 4

alrighty, I've got 3 JL 10W6s pushed by a 1200 watt amp. what would the advantage be of buying another W6 and another 1200 watt amp, and running 2 subs off one and 2 off the other?

I'm looking to get rid of my truck and get a Jeep or some kind of SUV to build a massive system in and whatnot..any help?

Another sub and double the power, according to my caclulations, you'd lose SPL.

well more money spent, as long as it's going to gain me some dB (which I knew it would be a gain of dB, but was wondering if the money spent for this gain would be worth it) it's worth it. how many dB would you estimate I would gain? I know that by doubling the power, you supposedly gain 3, but I'm also adding another sub..so I dunno..

Doubling the cone area is another 3.

I'd say you'd gain around 3.6ish. Also has a lotttttt to do with the install. Just doubling amps wont magically gain you 3db, but I'm sure you know that.

It wouldn't be worth it to me. Too much money and effort for a minimal increase in performance.

I really love these subs and am all about them if you couldn't tell

the only person around my area that has anything on me is a guy I go to school with that has 4 12s in his Durango pushed by about 2800 watts (unsure of the details of his setup, but just know that it's 4 12s and about 2800 watts)

..I'm louder than everybody else around here (or at least I was when I had my Acura)

originals. I've heard mixed opinions on the V2s. I love mine because they're getting so hard to find in decent shape anymore. mine are awesome. and yes, they are loud as dog shit. lol

I shook the plates in my buddy's kitchen as I drove by his house several times with them about halfway up...but that's just not loud enough..I love the attention they draw, and I want more of it (yeah yeah yeah, attention gets shit stolen, but trust me, I'm good there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

I'm the kind of person that can't stand to ride around with nothing to listen to, and these things are so loud that they're going to have to get even louder for me to actually be able to hear them..haha

I am the same way, but I also find it retarded when people are more concerned how their system sounds from blocks away then from inside.

Getting subs for the sole purpose of being heard from blocks away is for incompetent noobs who have small peckers. If you can't get any without a loud system, you're not going to get any with 1. Therefore the end product is a bunch of noobs driving around listening to test tones to see how far they can be heard from.

no, this is where you have me wrong. I'm not "more concerned with how it sounds from blocks away than from inside". it sounded awesome inside my Integra. by far the best-sounding setup I've had yet. I can only imagine that it will get even better, but who knows.

but yeah, being heard from blocks away isn't what I'm about.

I like it loud, yes, but that doesn't mean you should say my shit is small because my system is loud
