3.2 Miles at 8am is no fun

I'm taking weightlifting this semester for gen ed requirements and I'm 1 over my allowed absences, so to erase 1 we were allowed to run in this 5k race this morning for charity.

I planned on somewhat training before the event, but yeah that never happened.

I couldn't believe how out of shape I was. I think I got a little over a mile and started walking, I know I started way too quick, I had no idea what a good pace was, but either way I wasn't making it the whole way. Serves as a good wake up call that I need to get back in shape.

Probably didn't help I got crunk last night and went 9-1 in beer pong.

 
The bright side is that it doesn't take long to get into shape. I went from not even being able to run even a quarter mile without stopping, to running 2 miles straight in under 2 weeks. If you actually get to running daily, your body adapts quickly.
And yah, alcohol the night before was probably the clincher...I'd be skipping the 5k run after a night of boozin tho myself...lol, you're brave for following through on that one.
Not true it takes 21 days to get into shape.

 
you should have sucked it up and ran the whole thing.. ive done a 5k while not runing over 4 months before the event and still ran it out

Yeah I used to be a 4 sport athlete in HS and probably in the best shape in the whole school. Not anymore, lol, I've been pretty lazy my first couple years of college but this is motivating me to get it back. Last time I ran near this distance was 8th grade, I ran track and ran the 2 mile in 11:34, I'm hoping to surpass that. And yeah you notice quick improvements with running and getting in shape so that's good.

That was my reasoning, lol. And I didn't have much of a choice, it was my boy's 21st birthday and I was his partner so what can you do.

Yeah I agree with you, but I think I ran the first mile in probably a little over 6 minutes, definitely not a smart pace and although I slowed once I realized how quickly I was getting tired, I just felt like my body was going to shut down. And I think with the night before I had (went to bed at 3:30, got up at 7) my body would have shut down lol
