3.1L Engine Owners

BMW's F-6 and V-8's are the smoothest and best sounding engines around. As far as how the 3.1 would sound, I'd go w/some 40 series flowmasters...they give everyone vehicle I've ever seen them on that nice throaty growl. I've got a 5.4L in my truck and it sounds amazing, even better than my neighbor with a 427 in his camaro. His shit is louder..but is just wayyyy too rough.

V8's sound amazing with aftermarket exhausts...I still get excited when I get on mine.

Haha, no doubt man. I don't think I've ever heard a Ford run right...if I did, that LOUD hissing and troptroptroptroptrpotrop gets really annoying really fast...and thats just sitting at idle. Stupid things...

A chevy 2500 HD with a after market exhaust...now thats a true exhause.

Buahahaha. That's great. I think the 40-series flowmaster is good all around. Although i did hear a lumina Z34(or whatever the hell model # it is) with 2 flowmasters and it sounded like complete ***. I hear that my truck sounds pretty sweet with my flowie on it, never heard it from the outside though(no one else has driven my truck!).

If Borla makes an exhaust for your application that is the way I would go. I have had 3 and loved them all.

By the way an M3 sounds nothing like a V8. Not saying it sound bad...but certainly different.

Update ... gone though Borla, Flowmaster, and JBA ... none of them sound like tin ... all get the car sounding a little more powerful ... think the Flowmaster may stay ... still looking for more to try out.

Bah to you good sir...If you want to hear one nice sounding ford come to my house. 98' F-150 Lariat .Granted it's not stock anymore, but it sounds great. Nice low burble at idle right up to a loud, yet still low growl at full throttle...I love it. My neighbor has a 2500hd w/exhaust and you're right it does sound **** good, but I think I could take it .

brothers got a grandprix with the 3100 same as the 3.1. dual exhaust, well just a split pipe. still sounds **** good. can hear him coming from a ways.

yeah i have a firebird and 89 and it only has a 2.8 but it has balls though for a small 6cyl. and even alot of 3.1 cant match me dont know why but need better muffler and all what should i go for

Alot of the older 3.1 motors are garbage. A good 2.8 can usually beat an older 3.1 car.
