2k1 explorer 4dr 2k budget... need help

I basically know nothing about car stereos other than what I've picked up at Best Buy, Circuit City, and some friends of mine so I don't know what the SQL, or whatever that stuff is, is.

What I do know is I listen to a lot of rap and techno but also I listen to a ton of other stuff ranging from Eddie Money to Ashlee Simpson lol. I know I want 2 subs and I will need everything to be installed so could anyone point me in the right direction with links or something?

tell us more, you said 2 subs do youy want to use up all your trunk space? would you like 2 10" 2 12" or 2"15's and dont shop at best buy or CC look @ ebay stores or here, cheaper and better

I really don't know about size whats the difference? I do want some trunk space still I can't take all of it up. I know not to shop there I just went to look at things and hear them.

well do you want it to get loud and hurt your ears, or do you want it to sound crystal clear , or do you want a mix of both , with $2,000 is that for headunit + speakers + subwoofers + amplifiers + installation ? Are you willing to buy online instead of in store? Are you going to have a shop install everything for you?

yeah I'd need installation and the 2k would have to cover that and I want to be heard but I want the sound not to **** at the same time.

ok well unless you have friends that work in a shop, your prolly gonna pay out the *** to have EVERYTHING installed ; amp(s) , subwoofers, headunit, speakers...

you can get like 2 15" type r's , custom box, and some nice 2000 watt amp.... rest of the money split up into whether you want to spend more on a pretty headunit or good quality speakers

If your going to be going to a shop to have it installed I suggest going someplace with knowledgeable employees. Read up on here first even check out the part of the forum with the installation places someone might know a shop in your area. My first suggestion is getting some good 6x5 component speakers for up front. A shop should be able to fit those in your 6x8 area. The 6x5's will give you better sound quality than the oval 6x8's. Next look into getting 2 12's and running them sealed. It will still be loud but will take up less space. Look into internet brands such as RE audio, Sound Splinter, Ascendant Audio, Incriminator Audio, Image Dynamics, Elemental Designs. Friends may recommend Audiobahn but dont be blinded by the bling. Sure they look pretty but with an investment like 2k you'll want something that lasts. Alpine Type R's are good. They should sell them at Best Buy if you want a sample listen. Search ebay stores for deals. For wiring I would recommend knukonceptz.com a kit thats 90 dollars at best buy can be had for 40 there. Good luck and hope this helps. For lower priced reliable amps check out Hifonics, Kenwood, or Orion.
