ok so i got my 2500d today for my two 12 L7's and i hooked it up, the thing is before this, i had a kx1200.1 and hit hit nice but i wanted louder, so i hooked it up and turned the gain up more than half way and it didnt even hit close as to how hard it was hittin with the kx1200.1, the only way i get it to actually sound loud is to turn up th sub lvl on the head unit, and yes i have both power and both grounds hooked up, i dunno why i have to have the sub lvl all the way up for it to sound as loud as it sounded with the kx1200.1 and i didnt even have the sub lvl all the way up with the kx1200

Do u have any electrical upgrades? There is like a million of these post on here with the same story, and I think most of them was the fact that they didnt do the Big 3,so next time use the search on the top right of ur page

most likely your voltage is dropping from all the current that the 2500d is pulling and you are not getting rated power at these lower voltages. do you have the L7s wired at 1 ohm?

Probably a mixture of things.BTW: Doubling your power only increases the loudness by 3db which isn't really even noticable. But the extra current it draws is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You could have HONESTLY gotten that same amount of extra output with just a new box.

3db isn't just "3db" it's 2x louder.

Just the like F3 -3db dropoff is where a ported box decreases to 1/2 output.

Your electrical just can't power the amp, that amp should be ripping your subs a new one.

Good point. I know when i got my amp for my components, until my o-scope got here, i set the gains to "5v" because my head unit had 5v preouts, but once my oscope got here, and i set them correctly, it was closer to "3.5v" than 5, and it made a huge difference.

yea i go tthem set right now and it hits, but my wiring is all 4 gauge, im going to get a red top and big 3 soon, you think im going to notice a huge difference in the power my amp gets?

You're only running 4 gauge on a 2500d? Upgrade that shit to 1/0 asap.

3db's isn't 2 times as loud, it's slightly louder. 10 dB's is twice as loud.

3 dB's is 2 times the power, or surface area, not 2 times the sound.... Going from 1500 watts to 3000 watts is 3dB's, 2 subs to 4 subs is 3 dB's... 1500 Watts to 12000+ watts is 10dB's, 2 subs to a few more than 16 subs is 10 dB's, twice as loud.

If sound doubled every 3 decibels, I'm pretty sure that extreme SPL Vans that hit around 180 dB, would blow up from a shockwave, killing everyone watching the competition.

Anyways, to answer the question, I think the 2500d is eating your electrical system alive, and it's not being powered sufficiently, causing this impedance in performance. If everything is alright, the 2500D should have no problem making us louder than the kx1200.1

ok i made an appointment at a shop to upgrade all my wiring to 1/0, red top battery, and a 2 farad cap, you guys think i will notice that my system is putting out more power ater they're done?

I think you will notice a difference yes, but a cap is pretty much useless an used as a last resort, a higher output alt would be idle, also its 2500watts which would be a 2.5farad cap

not gonna argue with you but I will tell you to do some research before say something like this again.
