Hello-

I'm looking at installing a new system in my truck.

Head Alpine iD-X100

Amp Alpine PDX 4.150

Front Alpine SPX-17PRO 6-1/2's

Rear Alpine SPX-13PRO 5-1/4's

Hopefully this will be an upgrade to the 7 speaker infinity?

Eventually I'll build a box and put a couple 10's under the rear seat.

I going to DynaMat & DynaXorb the doors.

Does anyone know if I can trim the rear doors to fit the 6-1/2's" back there?

Any thoughts?

Yea with the right tools you can do anything. Even if you had to cut slits then hammer it bigger. Friend did that to his front speakers to accommodate 6 1/2" components from 5 1/4

on a 2000 club cab i used a grinder to take open the rear door just a tad .. i think they were 5.5 or 5.25's there factory .. not much to get it to open up then 6.5's went right in snugly..

That 10" enclousure looks good, but only 4.4" depth? Going to be hard to find good speakers that shallow? Are those thin JL's worth anything?

The 12" enclousure is 7.8" maybe the Boston's would wok in there?

Rick

for rears its not worth the effort to do that5.25 will be fine..

Look at the http://www.bassforms.com box for your truck

Toss some Type X 12's in it..

Boston G5's are ok,

I would do RE Audio SE12's or Alpine Type X 12's

You could also look at SSA ICON & Fi Q's i think

did a system very similer & it was Fantastic!!

PDX 4.150 & PDX 1.1000

Pro's Front & rear

RE SE12's

Kenwood DDX8120 Dbl Din Nav deck with 5v

Very nice setup..

Well I went with the 17Pro's all the way around, hopefully I can mod them in? I also got the imPrint processor, don't know what it is but WTF? I'm interested in the JL and RE new thin subs but there is shit for info that I can find in the web. The X type subs are like 8.6" mounting depth, wont fit unless I cut a hole in the floor or remove the rear seat.

Does anyone know which thin sub is the shit??? I'll be using a PDX 1000 to power.

Rick

You need to check out Fox Acoustics. He has an ebay store and also responds to posts on dodgetalk.com. I have one of his boxes in my Ram. I have 2 Kicker CVR 10" running on a Kicker zx750.1. It sounds pretty good. I had one of the crappy ebay MDF boxes before my Fox box and it suckkkkkkked!

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I was looking at the bassforms double 10", only problem is that it will only take a 4.4" mounting depth. Might not be bad considering there a lot of "slim" subs coming out lately. I'll take SQ over SPL all day, I listen to rock and alt mostly.

List of 10" sub under 4.4" mounting depth.

RE Audio SL 10 @ 3"

Kicker CVT 10 @ 4 3/16"

Any more????

the 12" bassforms holds a 6+" deep sub

an Re Audio SE or SX would rock

you can mod the back of the rear door panles o fit the 17pro just use 1/4" alum to mount them or MDF with a resin coat

Hey-

I odered the bassforms double 10's box and JL 10w3v3's to put in it. I talked to the guy at bassforms and he thought they would fit because the angle of the mount and the conservitive 4.4" depth due to varing magnet sizes. If they wont fit I'll build spacer rings to raise them up.

Everythings on the way, maybe?

Troy- Are you talking about ataching them to the door panel?

Rick

I have an '07 QC. I trimmed the front doors to accomated Polk Momo 6x9s. As someone mentioned, it's not worth trimming the back doors. I have a Momo 5 1/4 Comp set in mine. Also, I placed 3's and tweets under the front dash piece. For subs, I used the Qlogic boxes, stuffed them with polyfill and used both Kicker CVR and CVX --10s. Good call on the soundproofing. I've since added more mids and his and removed the back seat for more 'boom.'
