I started the truck this morning and had no whine, played it at high volumes and got whine, then started to get cutout when going to higher volumes. Pretty much the same as usual.
Well I was about to run new grounds but was still very reluctant to think that was the problem (Given the stereo had no problems for over a month since install). So instead I wanted to do some simple continuity tests. After doing so I found continuity to ground from the driver front crossover when it was disconnected from the amplifier.
Long story short I traced it down to the front driver tweeter shorting. I'm not sure on exactly what because when I pulled the A-pillar off both speaker wires came off the tweeter (I was a little excited and anxious from my find and Boston's slide on connectors aren't great), but after making secure connections and making sure they were insulated the continuity with ground was gone. I fired the system back up and no more whine. Played the stereo at various volumes for about an hour without incident. Took about 5 minutes to get to the tweeter when I've been trying to figure this out for a week. I'm just glad it's over. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks for all the help and input guys.
