2006 Honda Civic Coupe - Nav and trim questions

Okay, so I recently put a down payment on a new 2006 Honda Civic coupe EX with the built in Navigation. However, ever dealer I've talked to keeps telling me that it'll take 60-90 days to get the car, which I simply cannot wait that long for. If I call the dealer and tell him to scratch the nav, I can walk away with it in a few weeks.

Here's my problem. I'm moving to a new city and a new state in mid-July, and I'd like to have the navigation so that I'm not wandering around lost all the time. Also, I'd like good iPod integration (for reference, I was using Alpine's new iPod Fullspeed system in my last car, which worked like a dream). Also, I'm just now graduating from college, so I'm a little short on funds.

Basically, I need to know if:

A) The Nav is worth it to begin with?

B) If it is, which system is the best combination of Navigation and iPod integration?

C) How much should I expect to pay for the unit and installation?

Thanks for the advice!

i dont know much about this stuff, but if u buy it w/o navI think you would be getting a double din slot stereo. you could always get your own nav in the future that is prob 100x better. there is a new alpine double din out, that is compat w/ full speed and you could add nav to it. If i could of afforded it I would, i got an avic d1.

Or you can get a portable nav that is prob better. The stock navs in my opinion seemed to be dumbed down a lot.

i would get hte navi. right now, my dream car is the 2006 civic SI which i plan to gte when i get a stable flow of income coming in. im going to get the SI with navigation and will wait for it if i have to.. i dont want to use aftermarket navigation system.. no particular reason though just want to keep a clean stock OEM look //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif and i think it increases the value of the car?

A word of warnng about the 2006 Civic Si... That's what I was originally planning to get, but every dealer I've talked to has said that right now getting one with Nav is virtually impossible. The wait is 60-90 days, emphasis on the 90.

Anyway, having done a little more research, I've basically got three options. There's the Pioneer AVIC-Z1

A word of warning on the Si. I was looking into it originally, but the wait time is 60-90 days. Emphasis on the 90.

Regardless, having done a little research, I've basically got four options.

The Pioneer AVIC-Z1 or AVIC-D2.

The Eclipse AVN6600.

The Clarion MAX675VD.

The Alpine was eliminated because adding the Nav made it more expensive by far than any of the other solutions. The Kenwood isn't an all in one unit.

and I didn't find anything outside of that.

Also, I just realized that there is another slight problem. The 2006 Civics have integrated audio controls on the steering column. From what I understand they're difficult to integrate into the aftermarket system. Anyone have any thoughts?

get the honda navi man!!!!! and i would wait FOUR months for an SI if i had to!! yes, my boner is that big for it!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif but at the same time, by the time i have money for an SI it shouldn't be rare the way it is right now.. dude screw the EX, get the SI and take advantage of a K20 motor with LSD!!!!! you wont regret it.

umm i heared from a CC installer that the pioneer naviy is kinda slow and not really the best, ive heard eclipse has about the best or alpine. I would preferably get a aftermarket double din screen

Well, as much fun as the Si would be to drive, I can't drive a stick. Also, I can't wait four months for a car. I'm starting a new job in a new city in mid-July, and have to have transportation.

Also, the Pioneer is the only one that's out right now. The Eclipse and Clarion have yet to be released. And that's what they both are; double-DINs with 6.5" LCDs.

hey what kind of job is waiting for you out there? just curious to know what kind of background you have since youre purchasing an EX. you need a college degree to get the job youre getting?

I'll be a software engineer with Cerner Corporation. And yes, a college degree is required.

And it's impossible for anyone to have the Eclipse or Clarion. They haven't been released yet.

I think I'm just going to call the dealership tomorrow, tell them to scratch the Nav, and just get it installed later.
