2005 Honda Accord radio installation

Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket head unit into a 2005 Honda Accord with navigation in yet? A friend of mine has one, and he wants to install an Alpine CDA-9855 in the opening under the navigation screen (where the SAT receiver is in the picture).

I'm hoping someone would know of a way to use the OEM XM antenna/unit with the Alpine deck. He's already paid the year of service in advance, and doesn't want to lose the XM radio. Any help would be great!

even though that pic is of a TSX.. I know what your talking about.

There's a kit that relocates the radio (whilst leaving navigation up top) to the bottom of the dash. Conveniently.. I sell it. It includes the actual mount kit and the wiring harness to make it all work. mjbailey21 used this kit in his 2004 Accord and it worked perfectly.

It's made by American International, Part number HONK823H. PM me for pricing details if you want it.

Will it allow me to use the factory Honda XM unit and antenna with the Alpine deck?

I have had a seperate HU installed since May 04.

It works great, and I am very glad I used it. I have had both the Metra and the American International kit. The Metra is a better fit.
were you able to use your factory XM unit/antenna with the alpine?

I didn't like XM - Sirius was a lot better unit for me. I use the line in on the back of my current deck, Pioneer Premier P860. Couldn't tell you if you can use factory XM antenna, sorry.

That alpine deck died in less than 2 weeks after buying it. Complete piece of junk.

I had a CVA-1004 flip out screen ... and that died within a week as well. I will never buy another Alpine head unit again.
