So the box is actually a full mdf box with just a fiberglass top. Top of box itself is also Mdf I just added rings to give me clearance and then glassed in the rest. Its not fancy or anything but my second attempt at glassin. I have 1 inch walls as well as a 1 inch top for the entire top then a second piece of 1 inch is added after the passenger seat lays back. *fiance had spinal surgery in september of 08 so she needs to be able to lay back. so where the second piece of wood starts the piece under it is cut out. Doing it this way gave me a little bit more airspace. Then I have a 1 inch mdf ring atop a 3/4 inch ring. giving me a total mounting surface of just shy of 3 inches thick. with about 2 good inches of top plate on the box with plenty of bracing. the box is sealed inside and out with glass resin and the box is 4.2 cubes after all displacement and tuned at 31 htz with just under 50 sq inches of port. I am only running currently about 250 rms to the sub but its plenty loud even there. Not high volume but at low end bass its amazing. I had a Jl 1000/1 on it for abotu 2 songs and man!!!! crazy. when I tested it with the 1000/1 I had a lot of air leaking around the sub because I simply made a temp mounting plate for the sub and not a great seal. but even then it was very loud!!!. I cant wait to get a good clean true 2000 to this sub!!!! its going to be insane! the box is covered in some cheap viynl. It will be redone because I found that after buying the viynl that it wasn't quite long enough to wrap entirely after the ring and bondo were added even stretched. So i had to get by with what I had. The ends were just cut. and not seamed. and the top after laying it with Ga heat has come up a little leading me to need a very sticky glue next round. the cheap spray glue from walmart isn't cutting it lol. but here are a few pics tell me what cha think! be advised this is a first time for wrappin and also a first time for glassing a box only for the top of the box. I made a cheap full glass box before with just a single piece of mdf and a ring... came out ok but isn't thick enough to run anything other than some small cheap 12.
