2005 Blazer, getting a harness/module to work.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer.

It has theftlock but not RDS.

I bought the dask kit and got everything installed.

I went to my local audio shop. They said the 05 has data bus or data link or something like that.

So I buy the $190 PAC module.

I wire it up and there is no power going to the headunit when the key is in the accessory position.

I was told I do not need this module so I went and got a 1988-2005 GM 21 pin harness. Its really close to the Blazer's plug but will not plug in.

So I am not sure what to do.

I would like to have the accessory function.

I've been at this for 4 days now. It's driving me nuts.

The door chimes also work, even if there's no headunit. And the module the shop sold me is supposed to retain the accessory power... but it does not!

You dont need the PAC module. You need the standard GM plug thats all open in the middle, not the one that is sectioned off into 4 areas (probably the 21 pin you have). Very easy plug to find, this is the one I used http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4213069 actually has both styles, just use the one you need and tape over the other....

You may need to tap the ACC wire on the harness into something else that gets power when the truck is on or in ACC. I usually go to the windshield wiper fuse for that. Get an "add a circuit" to properly tap into the fuse.

The only place that carries Metra around here is The Source by Circuit City (formerly RadioShack), where I got the 21 pin...

Walmart, Canadian Tire, and the audio shop that sold me the PAC, have Scoshe.

However, Walmart/Canadian Tire doesn't have the plug..

You just need the 94+ GM one, not the 88+ GM.... Walmart usually has both.

HAHAHA! My buddy used to work at walmart.. and he says they haven't stocked the shelves (in the car audio) since he worked there about a 6 months ago.
