Hello all,

I have a few NEWBIE questions that I need help with. I currently have a 2004 VW Golf with the Monsoon system(VW System) in it. I want to upgrade my system to something nice. So here goes:

1- Should I stay with a double din head unit or go with a single din and why..??

2- What size sub woofers should I go with.? I would like to keep some of my trunk if possible. Possibly making the box flat.. Im a skilled craftsman and have all the tools for woodworking.

3- Amplifiers, what should I use..?? How many watts/ohms..??(Recommendations)

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thank you,

Are you into soud quality or do you just want it loud? I have a 99 Jetta that I am currently starting to build and would also like to keep my trunk space and rear seat access.

I personally am going to install a single JBL 10" with dual voice coils and set up as 2ohms for my amp.

It all depends. If you want it to sound good, go with a sealed box, that'll be the best and conserve the most space. Loudness, go ported. But it'll take more space.

That also depends on the subs you're getting. if you want sq you don't have to go that big, which will save more trunk space.

I don't really know... give a budget and what kinda system you want and hopefully I can point you in the right direction.

i have 2003 vw gti and i have a double din setup with an alpine RUX-C701 processor controller up top and an alpine CDA-9830 in the bottom.

i replaced the door speakers with 8" seas RNX midbass and i put image dynamics CD2 mini body horn loaded compression drivers under the dash - both installations were a pain in the *** and i wouldnt recommend eaither to a new installer - stick with 6.5" in the door and some tweeters up on the dash. and i installed two 15" idqd2's in the back with a false floor for the amplifiers\ect. heres some pictures...
