2002 Trailblazer headunit install problems.

My buddy installed a head unit in a 2002 Trailblazer, and is having some problems.

Here's what he says.

i have the wiring harness from walmart, for an '02 trail blazer. Hooked everything us as it should be. The CD played gets power, but will not come on. The reset light does flash, but resetting it does not do anything. i know for a fact the CD player is good.
The stock radio can be plugged in and will work perfectly, but i cannot get anything out of the aftermarket

Should he get a 'pac module' or similar?

Sounds like it may have something to do with the harness...is he using the OEM harness or did he get a harness that will allow the addition of an aftermarket radio? I have a Silverado ('08) and you need either a harness from Axxes and one from PAC (for the steering wheel controls) or, after going that route and calling PAC about a question, I discovered that they have a harness that will handle both the HU and the steering wheel. I'm not sure, he said he bought a stereo harness for it from wal-mart.

i think my friend had the same problem in his 04 Envoy. i think the harness was no good. so we just ran new wires.

that harness does not have acc behind the radio so he can purchase the interface harness or run a new acc to the orange wire in the ignition harness

this. I always fuse the wire, too, just to be on the safe side.

you can post on there that i figured it out. I have to use an "ad a circit" from autozone off of a fuse the was on with the key as the acc power.

buy a "gmrc-01"

you need this interface to keep the factory functions (door chimes, etc...)
