2002 Ford Escape- Help, please!

My car was recently broken into and I am attempting to install my exciting new cassette deck (Pyle - PLRCS20U Car Cassette Player - 200 W RMS - Single DIN) in my 2002 Ford Escape. I'm tight on cash-hence the cassette deck- and really can't afford to pay someone to install it right now. I have attached pictures of the wiring for both the hardware and what is in my car. I am pretty sure that there wasn't any damage when the stolen unit was removed, and I just need to determine what connector is needed to install the new unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

looks like the factory wires were tapped. if so, you have a bit of work to correct that. you want a mechanical fastener (crimp) or solder and only use electrical tape to insulate, not hold things together. a car gets too hot and electrical tape will fail (if it's not the good stuff - Super 33+).

you'll need the manual for the cassette deck or refer to the sticker on the unit that tells you wire colors/function.

i agree you want to have the wire harness adapter. even Walmart may carry it for $10. you'll want to get proper crimp connectors while you're there.

Excellent- thank you! All of the wires that are taped are because they kept shorting and blowing a fuse after the unit was stolen. It was a quick, temporary fix so I didn't have to keep replacing the fuse. Looks like a trip to Walmart is in order. Thanks for your help!

I was afraid that is what I was seeing. I don't understand why people do that with all the connectors they have to make things plug and play anymore.

Don't know if it will do any good. If those wires are cut after the factory harness you will have to repair that first.
