OK folks got the winter beater now and its got the Infinity system. It has the small amp under the pass. side rear seat. What im wondering about is wiring in a sub amp..under 300 watts to a single 12 im going to throw in there. The rear speakers barely work. If i turn the fade to the rear theres hardly any sound coming from the rear door speakers. Will this matter?

Im guessing i will have to get some sort of convertor to hook up my amp but can i go off the factory amp connections or do i need to pull the radio out?I usually let a shop wire my systems up but since this is a small deal and im low on cash i was going to try and do this one myself. Any pointers anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Vince

you can get the rear speaker outputs from the factory amp and run a high-level signal to your sub amp (if it has it).

or you can hook up an LOC at the same spot to hook up the RCAs.

another option (which i've had to do a few times) is to get a set of rca's and cut off one side and hook it up to the wires coming from the factory amp and just plug in the other side to your new amp.

r u serious...that is such a ghetto and rigged up way to do it. IM surprised that even works.

OP what u need to do is purchase a LOC. It will convert ur speaker signals from a high to a low. U will splice the LOC into 2 speakers. Either the rears or the fronts. If u dont have much expirence(its not that dificult but it can be screwed up) take it to a shop and have them do it. It shoudlnt be that much maybe 40$ at the most. Then run ur wires adn everything else urself.

Ive used line output conv. before but never owned a Chrysler product. Fords are my mainstay and ive done a few small installs on those. I just figured i would ask incase someone had some tips. Thanks though guys....shops around here are getting expensive for even small installs....around 65 bucks. Which doesnt sound like much, but when you're laid off every little bit counts.

yea i don't like doing it that way, but i tried the other options first and it was the only way it sounded good in that specific vehicle. and why wouldn't it work? it's just sending a stronger signal to the amp, just not as clean.
