200 watts with 16 gauge wire ok?

OK peanut gallery, which of yall could notice the difference in any daily or real world app between a sbs comparison of a 10ft run of some 16awg wire that is $29.99/ft and some that is $2.99/ft.
Im not disputing the obvious differences and small minute differences, but some people act like a certain wire will make all the difference in the world. In all reality, you will only see those differences on paper with your pen and calc handy.

Can't say about car audio yet but when i upgraded my home audio with better wire than standart ones, made a world of difference.

Audio is audio, electricity is electricity. It all follows the same rules such as taking the path of least resistance and such. If you can notice it then great, I highly doubt anyone else can, and if they do, then most likely it is all mental.

Have to agree. The differences are minute. But I still believe high quality equipment requires high quality wire. As an audiophile every bit counts! The point I was trying to make earlier in the posting was about wire insulation. The "better wire" has a thicker and more durable shield, which in my opinion, is vital for car audio. You have a lot of wires bunched together in car audio and better insulation reduces induction. Also, a more durable insulator will last a lot longer in the fluctuating temp changes. Some of you may live in warm climates all year round, but I don't and the winter weather takes its toll. I've seen situations where the insulation on cheap walmart wire (for car and home audio) lasted no time. Had one friend who used some cheap speaker wire for his home audio system. Six months later he called me b/c one of his back surround speakers wasn't working. After I inspected it, approx 6" of the wire had the insulation completely detached. All this happened from sitting on the living room floor! I also had a similar problem with some wallmart wire I used in my car.

never had that problem with my walmart wire and i live in northern michigan and it gets brutily cold in winter and hot in the summer.

can't induce DC into an AC signal, so there goes your 'heavy' insulation theory out the window.

We're talking about speaker wire - This is AC! Nothing in the posting about DC. And if your comment is correct, why would installers seperate the amp power cables from the speaker and RCA wire? Both AC and DC have flux and if this intersects, then you will have induction and distortion.

And yes, some people have no problem with walmart wire, but I did. So I'm done with it!
