I gotta crap Boss 612UA deck in mine. And I love it. Because it does everything I need it to do, which is basically have an AUX lineAt 2 ohms, that gain setting is probably perfectly fine. Especially since he's probably only got 2v outs (or less).
I was hesitant on replacing my speakers, which I already JUST did like 6 months ago, but now since I decided I'm going to keep the car and work on it, I might as well go for some higher quality components and amp them. I am an audiophile. I mean hell, I spent $150 on my Monster Turbine In Ear Headphones, and $150 on my studio soundcard for my computer, which can output and input studio quality sound, to my THX Certified Logitech z2300 system, which I tuned myself, and I don't record ANYTHING, I just listen to music on it.And for even better mid-bass response, look around for a good set of component speakers, with a small amplifier to drive them. That should cover the 70-150hz bass range much better that you say you're lacking.
Because its also the build quality as well. Your boss deck will more than likely start to crap out long before a good Alpine or Pioneer deck would, and even one of those you can get for less than $200 nowadays.I gotta crap Boss 612UA deck in mine. And I love it. Because it does everything I need it to do, which is basically have an AUX lineAnd it was dirt cheap at $50. Why spend more money on a deck when I can just get a deck that does everything I need it to do for $50?
Looks like he might have the LPF currently set to 80-100Hz, which is not awful. Turning it on to 180Hz like he was talking about doing would be very noob-like, tho!Turn that LPF down son.
luv the sigWTF spending 150 on headphones and 50 bucks on a head unit, thats *** backwards, you must've never heard a good headunit, or that boss wouldn't be everything you want.
Also Audiopipe =/= Audiophile in any way AT ALL.
What I was going to say, looks like it's in that range.Hard to tell much about an amp's setup from a pic, OP...especially wrt the gain setting. Like has already been remarked, whether or not it is really set correctly depends on more things than just being at 60% of max on amp's gain pot.

I wouldn't have been condescending if you didn't try to pass it off as fact. The fact is that a VERY small percentage of trunks meter better rearfiring. And most of those would benefit from upfiring if they cared to test or build for that. And I'm not just talking about my personal builds, but the 50 or so setups that I've tested and/or seen meter. You don't need a TL to know that either. All you need to do is take a look at all of the loudest trunk setups to see... how many rear firing? Zero.Everywhere that I've read or heard, and through my own personal experiences, has shown gains with subs facing the trunk lid. I've seen several in dept tests around the forums saying the same thing. Like I said though, that is vehicle specific, so maybe your set-ups don't show that. Don't need to be a jack ass about it brah.
ftw - can't wait to get my subwoofer to finally finish it. :|I wouldn't have been condescending if you didn't try to pass it off as fact. My personal car does a ton better rear firing. I think I can easily lose 3 dbs facing into the cabin. The reason those record vehicles are so loud is because they seal off the trunk from the cabin, creating a baffle. This will always be loudest, but will always take the most time and money. I love how mine sounds rear firing, and do not have the time or resources to seal it off. Maybe one day, but not now.I wouldn't have been condescending if you didn't try to pass it off as fact. I didn't pass anything off as fact, and I made sure to note that tests were clearly vehicle specific. Just noted that from everything I'd seen, firing towards trunk was the best option. Unfortunately for both of us, I don't randomly bookmark everything I read so I don't have the links at hand. Rest assured they're either on here, cawko, or diyma. Obviously anything sealed firing into the cabin would be louder, but the tests didn't do that. It just covered every box position and noted rear-firing was best. Which has also been my results. I guess I'm just an anomaly, go figure.I wouldn't have been condescending if you didn't try to pass it off as fact. The fact is that a VERY small percentage of trunks meter better rearfiring. Thank you. I thought this was a given that we were not comparing to sealed off set-ups. Clearly you and I have exceptionally unique vehicles that benefit from rear-firing.The reason those record vehicles are so loud is because they seal off the trunk from the cabin, creating a baffle.
