2 Seperate power wires ok?

Some people will tell you no. The real answer is yes, but make sure you also have two very good grounds or share the ground location. The ground is just as important as the power.

Right now I have only one 8 gauge, in-line fused by battery, going to a fused distribution. To the 2 amps. The on 8 gauge to battery cant handle both amps. I want to skip the distribution and run each amp separate all the way to the battery.

You can do that but you're risking your amps using only inline fuses 12-16" from you battery then going all the way back to the amps I think. Alot of competition guys do it but from what I understand they do so knowing the risk. What amps is it 1000 rms each or peak? If you're running 2000 rms I'd be interested in hearing the rest of your electrical including alt and wiring . if you're gonna run another 8 all the back might also think about just going 0 gauge.

They're 1000w peak. I also have 2 capacitors and a crossover. Alt and batt are stock. All wires on alt and batt are stock too. do u think 4 gauge would be ok if I kept the distribution? Or just go 0 gauge? I heard whatever gauge u use, u want ur negative battery cable the same size, then I heard u want ur alt to batt cable the same size, are either of those true? Thanks

If you have the money get the 0. You will upgrade. It's worse than crack.....this hobby......

And ditch the caps they're useless leeches.

Yeah, If your gonna upgrade might as well go zero and you can still use a Distribution. I' am upgrading myself putting in a new 2200rms and keeping my 400rms and running a distribution block with 0 gauge. First thing I did for my upgrade was lay 0 gauge. Contact mylows10 he's a sky high dealer and can get you some good power and ground wire for a decent price.

As usual, we're suggesting total overkill here. I guess the assumption is you're going to want to upgrade both amps tremendously at some point in the near future. That's the only reason you'd want/need to upgrade to 1/0.

These amps are 400-500w rms each at best. 4 awg would be the natural upgrade, along with a ~100A anl fuse. The 8 awg's from the d-block to each amp will still be fine -- with ~50's at the d-block.

Caps aren't doing much, but no need to remove them if they're already there.

If this is in the Lincoln in your avatar you probably have the 130A alternator which should have no problem with ~1000w rms.

FWIW - the fuses in the d-block protect the smaller wire. They won't do much of anything to protect the amps if there's a problem.

I think i'll just go with the 4 gauge for now. I have a blade fuse instead of the anl, does that matter? or is that ok? (to use a 100a blade)
