2 SA 8v2s or 1 SSA ICON 12?

I have a 1982 Ford F150 stepside single cab. Should I get the 2 SA 8v2s or 1 SSA ICON 12. If I get the ICON it would go in a good sized middle console box. If I get the SA 8v2s it would go behind the seats. What would be better for 50/50 SPL and SQ?

well this may not help much but i have a sa-8 v1 on 700w amp in a ported prefab box in the trunk of a 09 malibu and it pounds!!!!!!! so in a truck 2 sa8 v2 would be retarded!!! i had 2 12's years ago and the 1 sa8 is even better you cant go wrong with Sundown!!

i havent had a chance to play with the icon, but i can say i have 2 of the V.2's in a very well designed ported enclosure on a dsc 1500.1 and it is easily doing a 143 daily (havent had it on the meter yet but that will probably happen tomorrow) and is as close to flat as a man could want from ~23-70hz, they are amazing little subs, but the enclosure will play the biggest roll in the performance of either.

while the v2s are supposedly better than the v1s the v1s aren't up to all the hype.. now then 2 8"s vs 1 12" no doubt I would go the v2s if you have 1kw+ to feed em.. but the location will play a big role and I can't say that they will be louder since the 12 will be RIGHT next to you.. unless you mean center console in the back..

for sq I would probably not put a ported sub that close to you as it probably won't sound great

you can make a ported enclosure sound very very good if you do it correctly, but its not easy. but to get the sound i mentioned above out of the V.2's it took me **** near 5 cubes of space. if going sealed i would not suggest using the sa-8's

for what he is trying to do i would have to lean to the icon as well. even though i do love the sa-8s. mainly because the shock of people when they hear them in the correct enclosure.
