2 RE 8's? 3....

i'm in the same boat as JS1. i have a 98 navigator and there is no room behind the seats so i think that i am gunna go with for RE8's if i can find where to buy them

This RE 8 thing is getting out of hand haha

They are a cool little speaker, but they are just that, a little speaker. Dont expect much SPL out of them without putting them in an SPL box and even then they wount be able to take too much power. I'm not ripping on them, its just they seem to have been hyped up to be more then they are, which is a great budget 8" sub. Then again, this is just another one of those phases, trust me, ive seen ALOT of them where a single speaker is god for about a month, then you dont here too much of it again.

i have 4 re8's in my sport trac behind the rear seat powered by a planet audio big bang 1250 each sub getting like 200 rms....and shit is loud and can get low too...heres pics of the install...

Thanks for all the input. Radmans install is exactly what I had in mind. Except I want a slot port like like tegs and to mount them on the hatch (that opens and closes). It might be too much work....

Anyone know how much RE8's weigh and how deep they are? Can I run 4 like radmans and port the box? At this point it's more of a fascination, but it could end up my next project. What mhz and how big of a box will I need?

3.8" deep according to what I've found, now for the the weight..

its possible doin in the hatch do but keep in mind the speaker wire, u gonna need a way of hinding it but still make it moveable if u need to open the hatch
