2 or 4 Ohms?

Hey. I recently got one 12" Type R and a JBL bp600.1 amp. Before I get it installed I was wondering what ohms you guys think i should put it at. Should i put it at 4ohms and give it 300 watts or give it a 2ohm load at 600 watts but just turn the gain really low. 2 ohms. Don't turn the gain down too much, 600 watts shouldn't hurt the sub if your careful.

Yeah. I've heard lots of testimonys on this forum of people saying they give type r's well over 600 watts. If you can, find Phatillusion's review of the type r. He says they love power. I would have gotten a 1200.1 for mine, but my alternator wouldn't have been able to handle it.

I think they hit pretty hard. I was going to get the 1200.1, but the 600.1 seems to be plenty. I have them in a sealed box (prefab) but i think I'm going to build my own one of these days, maybe ported. Anyways, I'm happy with my setup and you will probably be happy with yours. Make sure you keep your gains down, I wouldn't put them over 3/5. If you can afford though, I would buy another Type r and run it at one ohm.

the 600.1 is stable at 1Ohm. no power increase though, still 600WRMS
