2 JL 10W7s or 2 12" 88120 Eclipse Alums?

Which subs would you pick, all things being equal?

ill second that ive heard the W7s and they aint anything special. eclipse makes a pretty tight sub too from what i hear im actually thinkin about gettin a set of them. if you do end up goin with them tell me what ya think of them.

if you havn't hear the new JL's then why are you even posting anything on this sight. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif They are the best sub you can buy for the money right now. the only prob is finding something that will push them. i would defenently go for the JL's.

If you have the money for a JL W7 or eclipse alum, why not get a eclipse titanium...they are awsome...

I had a 15 inch alum and loved it, but then heard a 12 titanium with the same amp and really freaked out because I tough SQ with SPL couldn't get much better...

Heya, Kmu, thanks for the comments. I'm trying to maximize the amp I am currently work with -- and I think i'd need a bigger amp if I went with the Titaniums. I think I'd seriously underdrive the subs if i went to the 88120Ti. And I know that I would be leaving watts on the table, so to speak.

For that reason, I chose the 88120 aluminums over the titaniums.

I got a good deal on the Xtant and I want to keep that amp.

eclipse are good subs. even their lower end range, not even the tis or alums are good. i have personally had 3 alum dvcs and absolutely loved them - clean, hard hitting, and good in small boxes. the alums are almost, not as good, but almost as good the ti's although the price difference between the 2 is not so small.

also the ti's will need much more power to get them going like they were meant to, so do underpower them wouldnt be as good sounding as giving the alums wht they need - what amp will u be using?

i say go get them:D

I am using the Xtant 1001 to power the subs. I figure the 88120 aluminums are the perfect sub for it.

I've never heard a pair of eclipse aluminums together but I have heard them singularly and those things can take a hell of a beating. A pair of aluminum 12s will cost less than the 10W7s and give you as much excursion sq spl and I bet they'll last longer and you won't have the problem of bass drop off in the midrange that the W7 suffers from. BTW Eclipse TiDVCs are everything the equal of the W7.

yeh....lemme think for a minute (which is what you certainly didnt before stikikn your post up).....time fro an equation or two //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

its quite simple so you'll be able to follow along //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

cost of 1 12w7 - 2 12eclipse alum dvcs with change for a box

or 1 12w7 = 3 alum dvcs if you look carefully

now correct me if im wrong, but the cone area of 3 12's pushed right will be louder in SPl and sound goood and clean in sq //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

bingo!!!!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

i would have to agree - the ti's are very very capable subs, which have great sq and pound like a mofo - only problem is that they rae power hungry, but what the hell, its agreat sub - it has been around for how many years?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif hmmmm.....thats right.....

and jl have had 7 years of r+d to produce "the bust sub ever" - yeh the w7's good, but if they took that long, they should have had a good look at the competition, dd, re, eclipse ti included - the ti is around 3-4 yaers old as far a si remember and it can still hold its own against the w7.
