2 Idq15

Whats really hood?

i got 1 12 in the trunk right now and wanted to know if this switch would

a. Sound better

b. get louder

Right now I have this setup:

Head Unit – Eclipse 8445

Subwoofer – RE SX12

Sub Amp – BX1000D

Components – JL XR 650Csi(not installed yet)

Comp Amp – Hifonics NX400(not installed yet)

I'm going to wait to see how shit sounds with the XR's in but after having the SX for a little over a year I was thinkiing it might be time to change it up a bit. So I was thinking of changin it up to this:

Head Unit – Eclipse 8445

Subwoofers – (2) IDQ15 D2 v.2

Sub Amp – Orion 8002 ( or another amp that puts out around 350-400 @ 2ohms)

Components – JL XR 650Csi

Comp Amp – Hifonics NX400

After having that SX for a while I realized I like the deep sounding bass more than the flat out loud bass. My friend has a setup with 2 12 JL1v2's and some Boston Pro6.5's and its clean as ****. It shits on my SX setup. Maybe its because of the comps he's got so I'll have to see how my setup changes when I get them installed.

So anyway the real question is would the 2 IDQ's sound better and get louder than my 1 SX? I listen to mainly rap if that makes any difference in the decision.

Yo thanks for the advice

Zip it up and zip it out

You might want to get D4s so you can wire them down to 1 ohm to the 1000D.

I had two IDQ12D2s off a NINe.1 at 2 ohms, so they were getting around 500 watts a piece and handled it nicely. And the 15s can handle even more power.

Sorry I'm a dumbass I didn't realize you could power them like that. So your saying I could keep my Hifonics amp and that would give them each around 500watts? if thats right then i wouldn't have to get another amp saving me about 200$.

Would you port the IDQ's?
You might want to think about dropping a ported RL-p and using that amp. That will sound really good without loosing a ton of output.
I've never heard of anyone porting the IDQ. I thought it performed better in a sealed box? Also whats a ported RL-p?

Also no one really answered the question of whether or not this would get louder than my SX. I would assume it would because the huge increase in cone size. Another thing is when I hear people talk about the IDQ they are saying how good it sounds with rock music; how good would it sound with rap(what I listen to)?

Peace

http://www.soundsplinter.com the RL-p is a sub and soundsplinter makes it.

Its hard to say which will be louder, its all install dependant. There is a large increase in cone area but the IDQ is made to be a SQ woofer and the SX is made to get loud. Will 2 15's get pretty loud yes, but its all what you consider loud.

Alright another question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If I decided to make the switch, leaving the Hifonics as the amp to power the subs, would installing it be as easy as drilling holes to mount the box and running the wiring from the amp to the box? If thats the case it makes installing it free which helps me. Also, what about throwing this option in the mix, 2 12 or 10 SE's?

IMO I dont think SE's sound that great. I had a pair of 12's in a sealed box butterworth alignment which is a qtc of .7, and they just didnt do it for me. They were pretty loud with 550 watts a piece but someting about them just didnt do it. But then again im using an RL-p now and Ive seen very few woofers that compare to that.

Yes you just need to mount the new amp and wire the new woofers to the amp. Switching subs themselves is easy.

So you believe the RL-p will out perform the IDQ, eh? I'll say it looks pretty clean. Do you know(I couldn't find it on their site) do they sell the sub at any local shops because I wouldn't mind going a hearing them in person. Also do any shops carry the IDQ's? Also because my dad thinks I'm a dumbass and most likely wont want me to buy some new subs and an amp, would 2 15RL-p's D4's run off my amp(I want to keep it as cheap as possible but I do technically have unlimited funds, IM RICH *****)? I believe their rated at 600-700watts so I'd be underpowering them a bit.

Another question, on their site they make the sub sound like an SPL sub more than a SQ sub. Like I said earlier I've had a SPL sub and it bumped and all but now im looking for a sub more along the lines of 60% SQ and 40% SPL(like every other person in the **** forum). So is this more of a SQ or an SPL. You've caught my attention with it for the time being anyway. Also, what will be the gain from 2 15RL-p's vs my 1 12 SX? And finally, I'm very competitive, will these 2 RL-p's outperform my friend's 2 12JL1v2's(I realize this is dependent on diff. factors but just say yes so I'll be happy.)

By the way I live in the Dallas, Texas area.

Thanks y'all have really been helpful

It will kill the w1's. You will gain SQ and possibly output, install dependant.

This is my RL-p its on a 450 watt amp, so in the real world its maybe seeing 300 watts.

My RL-p

atta boy, thats what I need to hear. I wont needa get a new alt for this setup will I? Also, I ahve that alt whine problem at the moment and it seems the reason is a poorly grounded RCA's. Uhh, yes I'm a dumbass, what and where are my RCA's? lol thanks

**** black that thing is movin. Looks nice. So its official the 2 15RL-p's > 2 15IDQ's > 1 12RESX?

Your RCA's are not grounded, they run from the back of the deck to the amp to tell what speakers to play what freq's. Chances are they are run under the carpet of your car on either the passenger side of the driver side.

No you wont need a new alternator. Do a big three upgrade though, you can find more about that in the electrical forum here.
