2 DVC 4-ohm subs --> 1ohm load?

Amp: RAA1000

Subs: Pioneer something or other...400wrms each

Each sub is wired negative to negative, positive to positive.

The subwoofers are then connected by two wires, each for a separate polarity; this was done so I only had to run wire from one terminal cup.

Finally two wires, one runnung from the (+) on one VC the other from the (-) of one VC are connected to the terminal cup on sub-box.

My question is this: AMP has two sets of +/- terminals; should I run the positive wire from box to the (+) on the first terminal and then the negative wire to the (-) one the second terminal? Would this achieve a 1ohm final load?

I ask this because right now ive got both positive and negative wires running from the box connected to the *same*(first) terminal and to be honest it is not 1000watts loud AT ALL - the mtx5500's or whatever running off 300w each were much louder?

Many thanks!

Follow diagram #1

and you're asking whether or not you need to "Bridge" the amp taking the positive from the first set of terminals, and the negative from the second set of terminals...

well that depends on your amp....

My NINe.1 doesn't need to be bridge to achieve 1 ohm, but my buddy's RF 451s needs to be bridge to get a 4 ohm load. Check your manual cause the MB Quartz site sucks when it comes to online manuals.

it's a mono amp. so it doesn't need to be bridged just like your nine.1

I do have them wired as the Rockford site displays - but as one can see it only shows two wires running to the box...as I have. what I want to know is if there is a difference between connecting them both to the same terminal or connecting the postitive wire to one terminal and negative to the other terminal? My manual says the amp is bridged internally.

Double check a few things. Gain setting, crossover freqs, polarity of the subs both in regards to the coils of each and their relation to each other. It's possible that the terminals on one or both are mislabeled and even though you have them wired what seems to be correctly, they are out of phase. Do the subs move at all when they are playing?

okidoki - I solved the problem this afternoon.

I had it wired like the diagram shows; that is with only two wires running from box to amp.

For whatever reason I just could not get it to work at 1ohm - so I just rewired each sub individually like many suggested and hook each pair of wires to a separate terminal and VOILA 1ohm load.

These subs freakin POUND now LOL...now if I could only get my friend to invest in some sound deadening for his trunk heh!

Thanks guys!
