2 DD 1008a vs. 2 Soundsplinter rl-i8

the rl-i 8's will take 500wrms easily. they might not need that much, but they will indeed handle it. i've given mine as much as 1200, no problems. 1200 is too much for one though..lol...

i've never heard the dd 8's, didn't know dd made an 8....but the bigger brethen of the 8's are indeed very capable subs.

i think the rl-i would be the better sql driver. offering teh best of both worlds...while i would think the dd more then capable of getting loud.

rl-i ftw!!

I'm not attempting to knock you or anything like that, but I do wonder how you come to the conclusion that the rl-i would be the better sql driver if you just stated that you have never heard the DD8's? Again, it's not a diss, but I'm interested to know how you come to a conclusion of a winner without even knowing that DD made 8's.

dd is synonymous for crap sq....

Anything typed in retort would be asking for a red mark on my "record" here. But I'll make it as palletable as possible.

Read December 1999 Auto Sound & Security article on the 9112?

Read August 2005 Car Audio & Electronics subwoofer test comparing the JL10w6v2, IDMax10 and RFT310?

PSmag a few months ago putting the 3515d through the ringer?

Australian mag pitting the DD1008 against $259.00 and under 12" subs?

Call German manufacturer RAINBOW and ask them what they recommend

for a subwoofer. They have their own manufacturer demo SQ vehicle and

they make subwoofers and they still use a pair of 3512's.

I personally think you need to check who the consensus is compiled from.

Note: as with all tests and subwoofer comparisons, you are still going to

have a person ultimately listening to it and we are subjected to his or her

idea of what good SQ and extension and output etc. etc. is. I do, however,

highly recommend that you take that consensus with a grain of salt. DD

was known as the most highly regarded of professional recording studio

monitors available just a few years back when they were building them.

now i wouldnt straight up call it crap. Similar to what people say about MT's when you get to high high levels of output you can tell they where made to be burp subs. 9100's where awsome daily beaters IMO. 3500's the same, not XXX or Brahma or IDmax SQ levels but deff great for rap and rock.

Of course their 9500's and 9900's (never heard either so i cant speak for them , going on hear say) you basically have little hope for it not showing itsself as a burp sub.

as for the lower lines, better than Audiobahn //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

no, so calCloser than oklahoma

Plus SS automatically wins for their customer service.

I think we know who has a "thing" for one certian brand.

Spudracer326, I recommend you take everything you read on a forum with a grain of salt. Everyone has experiences of all sorts with different products, some with fewer than they would ever admit. I'll let it be known that I recommend Digital Designs products whenever the system applies to a product or products of theirs. I'm not anywhere near afraid or embarrassed to make that statement, despite what ^ may think. Everyone has bias, I don't fall back on mine because of any lack of experience with products from other companies. I have mine because I built it. Built a bias based solely on comparing many manufacturers products to other manufacturers products. More testing, thrashing and yes, even fine listening at levels under 90dB than I could shake a stick at. Every company mentioned could have and maybe does have a remarkable 8" subwoofer. When I mention Digital Designs, without ever discounting another product or the testimony of another fellow forum goer.....I get hit with such tiny arrows as the quote above. Maybe because I lend some information to a man asking for it, I should just make my avatar a DD logo with a bullseye wrapped around it. Wait, that's what it already is!

Spudracer326......The DD 1008 doesn't deserve it's world wide acclaim. It's all a myth. Every country in the world is not begging for a big distributor to pick up the line and bring it in because I have a "thing" for it. None of this helps you to answer the simple question you posted. But, in my first reply I atleast planted a seed, I hope, that you might turn into a consideration for the product.

Ive delt with DD before

Ive delt with SS before

Heck, i was even going to buy a 1008 but i didnt want to pay the price for it.

I personally dont like the looks of it either. Even though looks arent important that thing was no beauty queen.

Have you ever used a RL-i 8 ?

If you havent then your oppinion is no better than everyone elses.
