2 chanel Amp Gain Settings with DMM

I have a MB Quart RAA2400 2ch ABclass amp.

Its rated at 2x200@4 ohm,and 2x400@2ohm.

So in brigde it has 800rms @4ohms.

The thing is it has separate gain setting for each chanell (it also has clip protection)

My question is next:

A) when i want to set gains with DMM on 800rms, do i use equation for 800 rms @ 4ohms and turn one gain ''button-knob''

B) I use equation for 400 rms @ 2ohms and separatly adjust gain on each channel

C) I use equation for 800 rms @4ohms and then turn both gain ''button-knobs'' simultaniously to the exact position

D) Something else?

set each channel/gain by itself to whatever youre setting it to. match the rest of them accordingly.

Are you running bridged, or separate?

If separate, B)

2 channel amp with separate gain knobs... set each output to the same AC voltage, and you'll be gravy.

If bridged, I can't say for sure. I can't imagine a Quart amp letting you set the gains independantly in bridged mode.

See if you can run the speaker terminals bridged with set of RCAs and 1 gain set (left side or channel 1)... if that doesn't work, then go with C) but be careful.

I am using it bridged. Ok thx for the advices. The amp has clip protection,so if i get bad signal it will allert me.

Two flaws in your plan.

1. Setting your gains with a DMM is horribly inaccurate. Granted it is a good starting point, but, you need to trust your ear for the final tuning. An oscilloscope with a test tone and a resistive load would be a better alternative, but it is also VERY expensive and still requires that you tune by ear.

2. The "clip" light may come on to late, if it even comes on at all, to alert you that your amplifier is clipping. That is the wonderful thing about technology in that it doesn't always work like it is supposed to.

I'll will combine my ears and DMM with a test tone 50hz,after that gonna play some songz for the fine tuning..
