wats up guys its my first post and i have a couple of questions...

i have a 87 monte carlo ss and im going to be building my first box for it soon... if anyone has seen the trunk of this car it is very very akward. to the far right is where the spare sits (standing up) and thne theres about 2 1/2 feet to the left for free space . Deepness is about 1 1/2- 2 feet ...then there is liek a little shelf that would be perfect for a box with 2 tens but i have 12's there is no way that i can mount them there.... does anyone have any ideas on how i can build a box.... i do have pics of the trunk but dont know how to post them ....

also i am building a ported box/ would someone please tell me the type and dimensions that would give me the best sound and hardest hitting bass because i hear the potential of ur speakers is based apon box design thanks

sorry man but as far as the box goes---someone would need your sub model numbers as well as the specs on it to design a box. as far as your trunk---i know from experience--my 81 cutlass had the exact same trunk. you would have to custom design the box to sit up on the shelf then use the dropoff as well so your box bottom would fit the dropof. of course you can always ditch the vegas and get a pair of nice 10"s

http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/mobileaudio/index.html those would be the ones that i have...... and wow that sux i really dunt want to build a box to fit up there it would be alot more cutting and everything for that and i have herd that the more peices u have the more chance of it not performing well..... and being that this is my first box i want it to be realitivley simple......bone, in your car was it possbile to build a box where the open space isright next to the spare...i was thinking of mounting one there but i dunt know if it will sound good....

yup here's pics of what is was running

sry guys i just found out off the guy i baught them they are the vega 124's http://www.adelcom.net/CerwinVegaVSSubs.htm the infor for these is in the middle of the page just look for ....vega 124
I have a vega 124. They like a lot of space. If you have the subs already I suggest a 2cu.ft. sealed box stuffed with fill. If you dont have them already and space is an issue, I suggest you find another pair. I have the vega 124 and the V-max 12's. The vega like a large bex sealed or ported. The V-max's like a large ported box but can handle a .75-1.5 sealed. A pair of the v-max 12's in a 1.5-2 cube box would be nice too.

jntar---you hook up the viper yet?

Yes sir....I hit a 144.8 with them this weekend on the v-max's in a 1.6-8 sealed box. Mic was equal to an older AC.

very nice my brotha

Is the spare on the side of the trunk or the bottom?

If its on the bottom you will have to take the box in and out no matter what you do.

If it is on the side you could make the box where the subs are on 2 sides of the box that way you could make it shallower. Another option would be fiberglass.
