While I have my door panels off I figured why not replace the blown lower door light bulb. So I turn it and pull well the glass comes out but not the entire bulb. Next thing I know boom wires touch and it shorts out. Interior light goes off, windows want go down, dash lights want go off and orange lights in front want go off no matter what I do.. Had a strong smell of burnt wire for a good min. So now I have to disconnect the batt every time I get out of car due to it draining my batts.. So now only 1 shop will mess with it and its $95 bucks just to look at it... So yeah good Fing times.... Entire audio project is now on hold till who knows when...

disconnect the battery remover the entire socket and ic you cannot remove the bulb just by a whole new socketnext time pull the fuse..
Ended up cutting the whole entire socket off. Taped up wires and now it sits... Yea should have pulled the fuse but now its gonna cost...

so, you already checked all the fuses related, right? if this is your 96 ford, pray you have a blown fuse. the fix is likely a new instrument cluster otherwise.
Just the cluster wouldn't resolve the issue with the windows nor the orange safety lights staying on as they are not connected or on same circuit as the cluster. Entire cluster works just light want go off.. Hopefully just a few relays and fuses will fix it but who knows...

just check all your fuses, the interior lights are always fused in mostly all cars. guaranteed you will have a blown fuse. my Tahoe had a blown fuse for over a year and until recently when I thoroughly looked at my fuses I replace a blown fuse that I really didn't know what is was to. turned out it was my entire interior lighting system and fog lamps.

Well found 1 blown fuse. So power windows and dome light are back to working as they should. Still have not been able to get the orange emergency lights or the dash lights to cut off. So I can get air again but still have light that want shut off...
