2 AQ HDC315's showed up today... PICS

u ask DJ about it?
i have not. i was hoping it would go away after breaking it in some, but the woofer is getting looser, and the sticky little section is still there.

the ONLY thing i no of that would cause it is the spiders. i mean, there is no rubbing of the coil, there is nothing wrong with the surround, and that only leaves the spider. maybe its just normal, since people keep talking about the "spider configuration" which would suggest its something unique, if you will.

did the mechanical noise that you were having eventually go away, or did it just get smaller?wondering if they might be related.
at first it was horrid. and now i cant even notice it from the front seat in my explorer. so yes, it started to go away. but i thought it would be totally gone by now. but when i went back to check...its still there.

i am thinking they might be related as well.

hmmm... i would run it by DJ and see if there are any other examples of this... i know someone else said they had a similar noise in your install thread but, i would ask dj and see what he says... who knows... you may get a recone kit out of it to see if it fixes it. he is pretty accomodating.
i currently have a thread about it.

Nice subs... the noise issue i know can be a *****... It bothered me for a long time... I have 4 of the HDc3 10's in a D1... As of right now im running 2 SAZ3000D's Strapped on all 4.... I ran 2 of them for a while on the pair of 3000's... The noise in the first 2 i ran is just about completely gone... They other 2 are a lil bit newer and are still not broke in yet.... Im pretty sure they will get there in a month or so...

You all have to remember that this sub has a complicated "SPL" Spider configuration... There are a total of 6 spiders in that pack.. they are really close together and tend to kiss each other when they move....

I know trust me it was a ***** at first and i hated it.. But then again this sub is a SPL/comp/daily Setup.... You will always get some kinda of noise out of a sub this complicated....

Its under warranty from DJ and AQ.... If that thing breaks down, being the suspension fail's ect... DJ will fix it for you no problem.....

yeah... i am having my pair run on a 20-200 sweep loop track run on 1000 (500 a piece) watts in my dads garage nonstop for the next 4 days... so hopefully that will take care of break in. and i wont have to deal with it when i put them in my truck.

and since his garage is way the fook out in the middle of no where, no one will be bothered by the constant droning for that time.

different freq put different stresses on the suspension. i found that 24 hours on a full 20-200 sweep will break in a sub better than 3 days on 20-60 (which i what i used to do). and since this thing is wound tighter than a frogs butthole i am going to give it 4 days to loosen up a bit.

this is the way i broke in the last few subs i had. (9500 12" mtx, power hx2 15, RF T1 15, hifonics atlas 12)

and believe or not 200 hz is WELL within the range of a sub... it just sounds like *** if you dont crossover below that in an install.
