i have an '04 grand cherokee. right now i have 4-12"s but i want to slim down the space i'm using. i would rather have 2 good 15"s i'll be using a hifonics bx1500d (i know its not the best amp but it's what i have) i need advice on what speakers to get. i want it to get loud and low. i have about 450 to 500 to play with. any advice?

My first advice is to acknowledge that we have a "subwoofers" forum. Not trying to be mean, but it's like 1 forum down from this one and there's lots of useful info on there.

What kind of box are they going in?

EDIT: X2 on the 18. There were some XXX 18s in the classifieds in your price range. I really do think that would take care of -all- your SPL needs.

if you make a properly built box for the 18" xxx (assuming you are going ported) it'll be 10 cubes EXTERNAL so there goes your space saving idea. i think you can get a pair of rl-p's for close to that amount and will work with that power and don't need large boxes. i might as well throw this out now because it's gonna be said. type r > then all.

i'm taking up too much space with the 12"s because its 2 seperate boxes and angled. if i get 2-15"s i will be able to tuck the box between the wheel wells.

here is a pick

if you liked the type r then go with that. you must have some serious cancellation. just build a new box with the 12's on top of each other. those are sealed boxes correct?

they are sealed boxes but i dont want to stack them. i think it is cancellation issues with the 12"s but i've tried facing them every way and i still get the same problem it wint hit the lows. the higher notes hit hard as hell but it almost muffles the lows.
