2 (12") sony xplod subs

If those subs are the 2006 Sony Xplod black cones, then i would say buy a 2006 sony amp to power them. From what I've been told, the 2006 subs work best with a 2006 Sony amp, and their performance considerably decreases with other amps, even older Sony amps like the 2005 line. Why this is, I can not tell you. Maybe it has to do with 2006 Sony technology.

^^^ sounds liek a marketing gimick lol

just like eclipse subs work best with eclipse amps...

anything that will push around 800w will do you good.

1200w for both eh? so that makes it out to 300rms a piece? most likely fewer due to sony's overrated mobile equipment.

i dont know much about those sornys but figure out what OHM model subs they are and figure out you're budget. if they are 4-ohm, go with an 2-ohm stable mono sub amp. check out this link for tutorial: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=160

honestly, id sell the sony's and get better subs.

if it was me....

edit: if you can wire them to 8 ohms you would get about 2KW until the magic smoke leaks out.

Eh, if the sony's are what ya got, then roll with them. Better subs exsist for sure, but thats all water under the bridge now that you've laid down some cash for them. I assume they are 4 ohms, maybe an old usacoustics 800f amp will do the trick? That should give you around 400 watts persub, I believe its rated power was into 2 ohms.Otherwise, pick up any new amp that'll do about 3-400 per side, some decent brands are mtx, xtant, orion and kicker...just make sure you think about the possibility of upgrading in the future, in other words, maybe find an amp that can make a lot of power, and run your current subs at an 8ohm load (less power to the subs the higher the impedance goes), that way, whenever you do get around to getting new subs, you have some other options, and can maybe keep a hold of the current amp you have. Just a thought //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
