2 12" L7's + 81000D = loud

well on the hifonics, they were wired to 1 ohm, which is its max output, on the mtx there wired to 1 ohm which is its max output, so either way both amps were maxed out and rated the same
but yea, imp rise is that much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif , i was gonna do the mod but turns out i dont even have to! and i would feel alot safer having the protection circuit thingy in there incase i did ever push the amp to hard for to long //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

!edit!

also is it normal for the subs themselves to become warm? i felt the subs when i wasent playing any music after a hard wang session and the center of the cone was somewhat warm....
Just make sure gains are set right and your not clippin and get the coils hot and youll be OK:D

its 4 gauge //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and on stock electrical with no big 3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

and with gains i basically set them by ear, i love this amp its almost impossible to clip them unless you literally put gains to 100% and even then it wont go into protect, but just spit out assloads of power... its almost scary how much i can turn it up without any sign's of clipping, bottoming out, or any bad noises what-so-ever... the bad stuff only happens when i close my trunk and it sounds like an atom bomb is going off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ya right

why not bust out the dmm and set your gains properly, you've already wired them to 1 ohm which you're not supposed to on an unmodded amp......
???? did u read the thread???

its not at a 1ohm load, if anything its at 2-2.5 ohm load if not higher, just becuase you you wire them to 1 ohm dosent mean its actually a 1 ohm load ... and i have no DMM or else i would have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

how u figured the imp rise without any testing equipment? But whatever, its your equipment....

hmm interesting. didnt know that mtx can handle that kind of load w/o a mod
thats what i was getting at, but if he likes the way it sounds i guess thats all that matters. I think sooner or later its going to start paying a visit to protect mode myself, but maybe hes a lucky one. I had the 1501 basically the same amp on 2 L7s and it did it is why i was wondering

unmodded they are only 2 ohm stable, and ive never hear of 2 dual 4ohm subs final ohm load being 2.5ohm

lots of amps can run below what they are rated stable at
form my experience those MTX amps are finiky as hell, i used to have mine going back to circuit city every few months

my understanding was the mod to that amp is what made it not go into protect at 1ohm and lower
