What's special about the W7 SGLC design is the pole piece. It is modified to flatten the BL curve substantially, thus greatly reducing distortion and improving BL flatness.
Another advantage of a flat BL curve is that more power is converted into movement, rather than wasted as heat. The more BL you lose, the more power you waste. That's why you see compression on the lowend in power tests on subwoofers as the power increases. This occurs at a slower rate with flat BL drivers, although at xmax all drivers typically exhibit several dB of compression on the lowend.
It is a pretty efficient driver compared to many.
