I'm currently running them with just a 4.7uF cap on the tweeter (4000Hz) however the tweeter needs about 7dB attenuation to match the midtwoofer :p

however, I have discovered a whole new world of HISS with an overly bright tweeter... hmm...

What was your painting technique?
umm... one whole spray can per box, and lots of coats... lol

they need work still, I might leave them to dry for a week or two, then wet and dry sand them, and do a few more coats... too many imperfections at the moment.

How does the woofer sound full range? Try a 2-3 uF if you can and see how that sounds, the "brightness" may come from the lower octaves...it is only after all a 6db 1st order...
Its best to get several .25 or .5 uF caps and add them slowly till you find what sounds best...

the brightness is due to the 90dB 1w/1m tweeter, VS the 83dB 1w/1m midwoofer... lol

and the fact that the midwoofer is still playing full range...

it needs some form of filtering, you cant argue with that.

That woofer probably isn't suited for full range even though its labeled as such...
That tweeter is way too hot for that woofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

thats why Im not running the midwoofer full range, and why I'm chopping the tweeter off 7inches shorter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

You can use a LOT less paint if you seal the wood before you paint it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

seal it by painting it with a sealer?
painting?

in other words, I gain nothing :p
The wood absorbs a lot of paint, if you seal it before hand it won't, get it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yes, but you seal it by PAINTING on a sealer, which costs more than the paint anyway...
get it?
Not the stuff that I have used //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Unless its REALLY cheap paint...
