1999 Pathfinder Obsidian Build

Alright, so I decided to make a new build log thread since my original one is no where near what I wanna do with it now. I won't be bringing any of the pics over from the original build so if you wanna check that out then CLICK HERE.

In a nutshell, this is gonna be my daily driver that's built to play music from 25-50hz and be loud while not sounding like crap. Although it's not something I'm going to specifically aim for, I want to be able to do a 150 sealed on music without swapping out ports or anything, just in my normal daily box.

For the "final" build (I use that word loosely because no build is ever "finished") this is basically the run down of equipment:

4x Obsidian Audio OA-12's

1x Cactus Sounds K5 @ 1 ohm

4x Lanzar OPTI6PM speakers, 2 in each door

4-6x C&D-270MR batteries (75AH each)

Pioneer MVH-8200

Lots of Audio Technix deadener

Big 4th order bandpass, no wall

Currently I have about half of all the equipment I need. I need to double up the subs, the amps, the speakers, and the batteries.

Currently the pathfinder needs to be inspected so I've been working on getting it ready to pass (needed some serious rust work done). Just finished up with that today and it's looking pretty good. Needs some touching up but it's enough to let me pass and that's all I really care about right now.

As it sits:

My awesome rust repair and PL400 sealing job:

Back of the vehicle mostly gutted, ready for the final false floor:

Unused holes sealed up with some PL400 to protect against from any exhaust fumes leaking into the vehicle:

Temporary false floor and current setup with the single 12 in the 4th order (excuse the mess I was working on the vehicle when I took pics):

And some batts I bought off of Exocontralto the other day to run in the back. They are C&D-270's resting at roughly 12.8v.

That's all for now..

You never game me measurements for wire loser.
Nig please I told you I just needed two 8-10" jumpers lol

excited to hear about those opti's... in for pics.
The opti's get stupid loud off 100w (half their rated RMS). I haven't been able to get good midbass out of them, however. I haven't really taken the time to make sure my door is 100% sealed. I put some deadener over it to try and seal and it helped a bit but not a whole lot. Either wanna get some ccf/MLV or just get some spray foam and go crazy on that bish lol

spray foam is one of my favorite tools.
I'm slightly afraid to use it cause I hear it's super messy and when I use stuff like that I go all out lol. I definitely wanna get some to at least put on my door panel to stiffen it up a bit, it flexes a little too much for my liking even off just a single 12. Once I get all 4 in it will be a PITA lol

Not mine. I refuse to use it for the vast majority of any of our builds.
Ya gonna cry about it?

Playing around with sketchup, I think I got my design to where I want it. Adjusted some stuff after looking at what I had and I think this should perform well. My current box is tuned to 40hz and I want it to have just a little bit more authority on the lows without sacrificing too much output so I dropped the tuning down to 38. To compensate for the possibly drop in output, I up'd the ported section just a tiny bit. The design will also feature a nice kerf to help battle any possible port noise, plus it looks pretty cool lol.

Since the pathfinder is white/grey/black I want to stick with the same theme. Port + kerf will be painted a glossy white, not sure what I want to do for the actual box itself. Thinking doing a semi glass black or dark grey on it. I don't like flat paint cause it looks real cheezy. The semi gloss should be enough to give the paint some depth without being too much work to apply.

Box will also feature 2x 1/2" threaded rods to brace (one going from the baffles to the back of the box and then one that cuts through the end of the port and attaches either side). Gross internal volume is sitting at right around 11 cubes.
