Hey everyone,

I just bought a 1999 Honda Accord and I'm looking to buy all new speakers for the car. It has 4 speakers, 2 6x9 in the rear and 2 6.5 components in the front doors. I listen mainly to rap, hip hop, rock, and r&b. I'm going to amp these speakers because I want good quality sound that I can play loud. I heard the PGD RSD's were a good choice but that would only cover the 2 speakers in the front. Anybody have any other suggestions? I'm open to anything. And please suggest amps because I have no idea what amp to get for these speakers.

Do like I did in my '01 Accord. Don't use rear speakers. No need for them and saves you money. As for the PG RSD's, I'm not sure what the mounting depth is but realize our Accords don't have much room depth-wise. IIRC it's under 2.75" (which includes a 1/2" baffle). If you do a 3/4" baffle, you will have issues with the speaker hitting the grill on the door panel. There are some Rainbow mids you can go with. I went with the DLS Iridium mids. There is also the Hertz Space, but I heard them and didn't like them. I'd go with the Hi-Energy line from Hertz instead and those I'm pretty sure will fit. There might be some Focal speakers that fit as well, not quite sure though.

I also HIGHLY recommend deadening your door. The money you save from buying rear speakers, you can buy deadener and have PLENTY. I ended up going with Second Skin since it is what I used in my trunk. I did one layer of Damplifier, on top of that a layer of Over Kill, and on top of that a layer of Rattle Pad. And I also used a Speaker Tweaker Kit. Only thing I regret is doing one layer of Damplifier, should have gone with 2, but still, it's a major improvement from being bone stock. The deadening cost me 100 something, it was in the low 100's, possibly up to 150. I got 40 sq. ft. of damplifier (don't need the pro), 9 sq. ft. of overkill and 9 sq. ft. of rattle pad, and 1 speaker tweeker kit.

I have a picture log of what I have done. Just gotta get it off my camera and onto my computer (currently the camera is at my gf's house). I'll have something up probably sometime next week.

If you have any questions about removing the panels and whatnot, feel free to PM me.

Tis a crappy pic, but why not somethin like this for lows? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif (keep in mind the enclosure can be half that size //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif). Though cvjoint's setup with theose MAX's are incredible awesome. Haven't heard the lows, but definitely gets loud. Can't wait to hear his setup since he's done quite a bit of upgrades since the last time I heard.

I am looking for speakers for my 94 accord as well. I already got a sub and amp so yeah...

I need 6 1/2s for the front doors and 6x9s for the rears too. I am looking for a bit cheaper though. Hopefully I can get some used ones from the classified section. If not im kinda in the same boat as you. Have you looked into any deadeners? What do they really do?
