1997 hyundai elantra PLZ HELP

so i just got a 1997 hyundai elantra and as usual in not happy wiht the stock head unit. normally its a breeze for me to change them out but in this car i have no clue what wire is which in the car

Does anyone know where i can get a free wiring diagram for the stero harness???

i might be able to get you one from circuit city.

but man, just go to your local circuit city, spend $30 and get a set of smartharness'. basically one clips to the stock harness, one clips into the cdplayer (what kind of cdplayer do you have?) and then they have universal connectors that plug together in the center.

takes all of 10 minutes to install a HU. and be careful, some of the hyundai's have some freaking cable driven HVAC controlls, and when you pull the dash out, the clips break and your vents and\or air flow knob wont work.

the two cables run one under the drivers dash (unclips like a trunk release cable) and likewise behind the glovebox.

just thought id let you know.

Hello,

First thing is first. For removal instr. go to http://www.carsterehelp.com to see if they have a guide to your car.

As for the wire diagram, if the factory wires harness is not cut off or stripped than you go to WalMart or your local stereo shop (however walmart will be much cheaper) and buy a wireharness for $10. Take the harness and snap it on to the harness that goes to your factory stereo and than match up the wires from the aftermarket harness to the harness of your new stereo.

Peace

In those there's one clip above the gas pedal and 2 in the glove box...and make sure you put them back in the exact track they came out in...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i wasnt sure if he owned that model. just be sure you unclip them behind the dash like i (and snova) said before you go pulling your dash bezel out or your HVAC stuff will almost definatly stop working.
