1997 honda accord trunk box?

It depends a lot on the design of the box. What subs and what kind of power, also any idea on air space or tuning? All of these things will help make a choice. Or build a box with subs and port on one side. Slide it in, test it. Then flip it and test again. Lots of variables.

if your car is a coupe, you might not be able to fit a proper ported enclosure for two 12s in there. i have a 98 accord coupe and cannot fit a nice box in my trunk.

i would suggest maybe going with two 10s or one really good 12

We are currently using a prefab box given to him.The air space for each 12 is recomended @ 1.5 cf each. The current box is about 1.8 cf each and not ported.Power is coming from a Punch 40DSM.The box fits in fine with room to spare. The subs are a lower grade Pioneer. They are facing towards the trunk now.He wants the rear seat in the upright position so people cant see in there also.Hope this info helps.

I would suggest doing a larger ported enclosure facing toward the back. If you want more output though, I suggest getting a better sub(s) with a bit more power. The punch 40DSM is a great amp, but not much out put.

If he is looking for a "wow" factor, then perhaps looking into a budget for new product would be were I would start.

I understand your response, but, hes 16 and has purchased everything himself including the car.We are trying to maximize his dollar and I figured we would ask questions?

i have a '95 Honda Accord LX 4-dr... and i managed to put 4 12s sealed in there. hit 143.5db on the measure, facing the cabin... facing the trunk i hit 141.?db. my rear tire wheels go in future than on the 97s. i have a partner that has a 97 honda - he alternates from 2 12cvx's ported, and 2 15cvx's sealed. i believe the ported enclosure for the 12s dimensions are 37"W x 24"D x 14"H Tuned @ 35hz... i did the design, but it's been almost a year. so if that helps any.... there u go.

Do you know which Pioneer subs he has? I have played around with some of the cheaper ones had some decent success with them in large ported enclosures.
He bought them at Walmart.....I know....but hes 16.....and i am very surprised how well they sound now.I'm just hopin the ported box will increase what hes lookin for.

The cheaper Pioneer subs love HUGE boxes when porting. I would say a better option at this point is sit him down and explain the limits of the system he has. If would like to increase the sound level he will need to save and budget accordingly. It can be done fairly easy and on a relatively cheap budget. Look into the space he has available and look at what could be a budget. Then figure out a plan. Best option to be completely honest.
