1993 Lincoln Power Antenna/Radio Issue

I replaced the broken power antenna on a 1993 Lincoln Town Car with a used part from the same model. The replaced antenna worked up and down. But, when I turn on the radio, the antenna would not go up and down. The motor work ok, but would not go up and down with radio control on/off. The radio would pickup and play stations even with the antenna disconnected.

So, I bought another used antenna and installed it. The antenna would go up and down with the radio control on/off initially, but there was no sound from the radio. I check all the connections including the ground and then when I turned on the radio again, it played. But, the antenna would not work at all up and down.

Help??
