Well if that's the case, I'd be looking for an SPL sub(s) for $400 rather than just 18's in particular.. Just my .02.

SO you want to annoy the general public? If so I would suggest no sub as thats the shit that makes CA look bad. Im all for a loud *** set up but my goal is for MY enjoyment.

With that said you want flatwind.

Im sure the MA subs would wang. I have some and i beat the hell out of them full tilt for 6 months before one gave out on me. MA subs come with 2 year warranties as well. I think the one that gave out had a defect from the factory though, it never had quite as much excursion as the other one. I was giving them 600w for the pair and they got nasty loud. Was the loudest setup around here from what ive heard other people telling me, and i have the 15 xl models. So no doubt itd be loud as hell if you had 2 18"s on more power. Just make sure you get rid of that sound deadening mat thats between the trunk and the cabin(behind seat) you lose lots of deebeez from that thing.

One thing about them though they dont respond well to frequencies above 55 hz or so, but **** they bang out the lows good. I was running them sealed and was louder than many ported setups running more power than i was. Biggest system i would say mine was louder than was a friend of mines truck, 2 L7s on a zx1000 in some custom box tuned to who knows what. But yea overall I was VERY impressed with the MA's until one quit on me. Ive got 2 of the 10" xl models on the way right now so ill see how those work out and let you know, gonna port those to 38hz.

Theyre very efficient with power too, and mine never got hot while playing them. I burned one up one day due to the gain was a tad high, would start clipping around 55 vol and i normally listened around 45 but it got turned wide open for a few secs and that smoked it i guess. are you going to be running the zx1000.1 in your sig? if thats the case, i would worry more about the design of the box. 1000w going for straight out SPL is not really going to get you far, and being "heard down the block" will happen with 1000w, but your going to need 2 15"s and a big *** box IMO, or as much cone area as possible. shit 6 or 8 of the Hifonics HIFI 12's might be something you want to look into. they can be had for ~$30 a piece!
