180 amp alt or 200 amp alt?

ok so i did my setup in my truck today i have been dieing to do for a while and the kicker kx1200.1 and my 2 kicker l5's 12's and when i turn the radio to about 20 and its getting ready for the 1st hit on the song when it hits it sucks the power clear out off the radio lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif so i need a bigger alt

my truck runs a 105 stock amp and when i turn the amp to full power and headunit to 20 it completely drains the truck of power im looking at a

180 or 200 amp alt but dont know which one and im also currently running a single optima red top.. any help is appreciated Thanks

get the biggest one you can afford....will be set for future improvements or add-ons that way...I have a 260amp in my 2001 Silverado

ehhhh, you say your radio shuts off or dims really bad when you start playing your setero??

sounds more like a battery problem. with your system you should initialy run a big 3, then try a more stable deep cycle/cell battery, then an alt.

what size pwoer wire do you have to the amp, when you are hammering on it, what is your voltage, at the amp?

He has a Red Top...if it's a battery problem it should still be under warranty...I bought one because they warranty seems like it goes forever

i know the reds arnt exactly the deep cycle of the yellow but this is insane 1 hit and its sucked the power to nothing

upgrade your big 3 first, then get a nice battery. and if the problem consists move to a bigger alt, but i think with that amp you would be fine with big 3 and battery

what do you mean turn it to its full power??

most likely to turn the gains all the way up. he is still learning and doesnt realize what the gains do

red tops are not for car audio,so dont tell them you have a system, because its not covered. i also have that same amp in my other car and those models pulls a lot of current. spend about $180 & get a kinetik 1800 min. with at least a 200 amp alt. in the future.kinetic batts. are not like wet cells,they dont add stress to your factory alt,so if you cant afford a big alt now.start with a big kinetick 2400[$275] est. with the big 3. im still using a factory alt with that same amp. pm me for more info

the only way you should need a bigger alt for that amp is if your stock alternator is 45 amps. other then that big 3 and an upgraded battery and call it good

yes you say battery problem but i thought a 1200 watt amp pulled 90 amps and if the factory put a 105 amp alt i would imagin that the truck needs more than half of it? so wouldnt i need a bigger alt??

the alt upgrade would be a wise choice get the biggest you can afford assuming the diff in price isnt like 200 bucks for the 20 more amps
