18" Juggernauts?

My g/fs brother enters or used to enter USACi competitions. He had a old school 78 Cutlass, with the back seat taken out and a wall with two 18" Juggs and a vent that was like 12" x 30" or something huge, you cold crawl in it... I don't know how many watts he was pusshing, but he had like 4 of the Big *** Orange Cadence amps... I know it was loud as Fock..... Sounded like POO, it was stricktly SPL...

Talked to my friend at the shop today- he has quad juggies, which use a diff motor than the duals. Also said that the 18" Juggernaut motor uses a Dread coil...and he went through a few 18" Juggs before going back to the 15"...

why would mmats use a dread coil in the better subwoofer (the juggernaut is the better woofer).

That's what he told me. He said he had them on the phone, and he was *****ing because the 18" Jugg's kept fryin on him. They said they were using the Dread coils for the 18" at the time.

how much power was he running?? even the dread coils should have been able to withstand a tremendous amount of power also (for burping).

hmm..... learn something new everyday i guess.

the juggs are not for daily..............I repeat are not for daily.

they are strickly comps setups.

you can use any subwoofer for daily drivers or for SPL setups, but that doesnt mean thats there -intended- use.

i wouldnt use a JL w7 for SPL. but you can...

yeah they are kno for there tinsel lead slap. They are not for Daily but just for SPL.
