18" FI BTL or 18" AQ HDC3?

Why do people still say this? The btl doesnt need 3k watts.
True dat, but I know mine loves it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The BTL will do great however with a solid 2000wrms in a slightly large ported enclosure.

the BTL's i am referring to are used, they are the original standard models, dual slugs and cooling, not fully loaded. And I can get them for $130 cheaper shipped than the AQ's. However the AQ's are new. so with that being said which subs would be the best deal and would perform the best with 2kw+ on each in around 6-7 cubes each?

You have to define "better". Both are very capable subs. AQ's will do very well off of 2k, but will take more. BTL's will do the same. Some of the original BTL's had a tinsel lead issue, so that might be something to consider.

If you're just looking for a loud daily set up then either would be fine. Buy what you can afford and put them in a proper box and be happy with it.

I still don't get why guys over analyze this shit to death //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

truth...there is only one way to know and that is to run both and hear for yourself. Either one will take gobs of power and get louder than needed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

very true and i know either way I go I will be happy. This is for daily streetbeating and I just want the sub that will sound the best on 2kw, get the loudest, and have the best tone and frequency response. And which would handle the power better for daily?

Heard from 2 people who had the BTL and HDC3 that the BTL was louder down from 20-50hz, but above that they were about the same; but the BTL had the upper edge. I'm pretty sure however they both can take it but the BTL will handle the power *better*.

ApocalyseBoy were the BTL's that were compared to the HDC3's fully loaded? Because the BTL's I am referring to are the standard model with the 2 slugs, not 3, they do have the cooling option and 5 spiders but they are not the fully loaded models. so were the BTL's tested against the HDC3's the standard model, double stacked, or the fully loaded, triple stacked, model?

The BTL will handle the power better since it can take more than double that daily and it is going to have a stronger low end.

lol, where were these setups crossed over? I have my BTL crossed at 50hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Who listens to >80hz in a sub stage?!?! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The BTL has a strong low end and will do much more damage in the ~30 up to ~40hz range but the HDC3 has a stronger upper end from ~40 and up.
