16kw burps...are they serious?

We hit an Atomic APX 10" with ~12kW on a single coil yesterday...it lasted a few seconds until the coil mashed the back plate... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
WTF? Maaaannn I would've driven over there to see that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah well my flux capacitor I have powering my 9915s pwn3s you all!! LOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Question:

The few times I have seen these dbDrags they play for about 10 seconds. Do these burps last the whole 10 seconds or less?

Also, how can one determine what they can burp a sub at? I would assume experimentation but there should be some science behind it.

Wow, they really dont need to burp that long. Usually 4 honest seconds is more than enough in light of the sampling rate of the TL pressure sensor. As far as burping, it's just unpausing your radio at the set frequency, then repausing it. For the frequency played, that's just something you have to play with and see. Typically the box will dictate what you burp at...

Loudest notes inmy truck have been all the way from 38hz to 59hz pending the setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

(Even though the 38hz system was likely one of the quietest it still did a legal 153 on the old TL hydrophone with only 1.2kW...hehehe...that system could find any car alarm in a 150' radius //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif )

So you don't have to play the whole time...I could see how that would work. Put "everything" into a few seconds while the other person plays the 10 seconds. I said 10 seconds, it may not actually be that long.

Sometimes if you play it longer, the score goes up, especially with a termlab.

You may see a tenth or so increase.

Now imagine doing it for 5 minutes straight.....

Thats deathmatch, and its nuts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Like he said, you burp at the loudest frequency in your car. Its determined by a number of things. The meter being used, the box, car, etc....

Thats why everyone reccomends getting termlabs for serious competitors. They use it to test over and over again.
