16 Volt power supply

Has anyone ever ran two 8 volt batteries in paralell with the voltage regulator set at 14.4. A friend suggested this instead of buying a capacitor. Will this work and constantly stay at 14 volts. I'm talking about the batteries being in the trunk. later

you mean series. Parrallel would only give you 8 volts. It could be done but how are you going to charge them? Where are you going to get the voltage reg.?
