But you can buy them from any JL dealer, and I'm pretty sure it would work fine without it.

that ring is what holds the foam in place... you can't play it without it.

Why wouldn't it function properly after a recone? A recone makes a sub pretty much brand new, and I don't mind time......hell, I've got too many subs as it is. It's not like I'm going to be without something in my car for 3 months.

PatFitz - Didn't know that, but they sell them at JL dealers, so I'm not really worried about that either.
