15'' xxx powering

Right now my friend has a 15''' xxx in a ported box running off 2 MTX 6500D's that put out 775 watts each. He has each one hooked to 1 voice coil running at 2 ohms since its a 2 ohm DVC. He thinks its not getting enough power and wants to run it at its optimal level. He was thinking of getting 2 of the jbl 1200.1's and hooking it up the same way. But i was thinking he could just get 1 amp and run it at 1 ohm. What would be a good amp $600 or under that could push it at an optimal level? Or should we stick with the 2 amp setup? Thanks guys...

get an earthquake D2, it will put out 2000wrms

there is one on ebay right now for under $600
