15" XXX sketchup Box plans

well this is for a guy at work. he was picky about it being symetrical and having a wedge style back so its tight againsts he seats. the box specs out at 6 cu ft net @30Hz. two 18.5X2 ports 32" long. for a total of 74 sq in port area. hes gonna put a USAmps MD3 on each coil, for someware around 3000 watts. let me know if ya guys think is big enough and has enough port area!

once i get the OK, ill be posting pics of the build, well i hope i start in a week

That's sexy. Will the area behind the port cause a problem? The first time I have seen it done like that, but I haven't been around long.

that sub will be bottoming out in no time.

i could get a 15" xxx to bottom out easily in 4^3ft @ 29hz with a kx2500.1. you need to bring that volume down quite a bit.

no, cause the port it self has been "boxed off" from the wedge shape behind it. its just a good ole fasion labrtyh style port it a funky shaped box

still, 6 cubes net for almost any 15 is way to much.

Is that for a newer XXX? If so, that front panel is going to flex or just straight fall apart. Even if it's the older XXX, I would add bracing from front to back and definitely a double baffle. That enclosure does not look healthy enough for a serious sub as it stands.

unless im misunderstanding, you have net and gross volume confused.

this begs the question, is that truly a 6^3ft net or gross box?

didnt bother goin to the extream of drawing in the double baffel and the braces. but trust me, they will be there. as well as a brace for the motor

and the gross volume of the box is 8.29 cu ft. once u subtract the port voulmes of .91 each and the sub volume of .27 and the bracing and double baffle, ya get 6 cu ft NET. trust me fellas, i racked my brain on how to get 10 lbs in a 8 lbs bag. this shit is bang ON!
